This didj was the 8th hardwood didj I ever made (I'm now up to about 270). It was shaped down first with a hatchet, then worked smoother with a sureform, then sanded. The interior was hollowed out with a chisel. It has a pretty visible seam and shows the evolution of my work between then and now. It's tuning is imperfect, about halfway between E and F. It's sound is solid and loud. The backpressure is great. The harmonics are easy to play with but the vocals are somewhat muddy and compressed. I priced it to keep it but it's unique shape and it's collectability as # 008 might just see it go to a new home someday soon.
